ECO4 SCHEME

Explore the ECO4 Scheme the benefit and look how many people apply and who is eligible for the funding and much more.

ECO4 Funding Scheme; What actually it is?

The ECO4 program is a UK government energy efficiency project that gives financial grants to low-income households for energy-saving improvements to their homes such as insulation and heating system upgrades.

The plan is part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) program, which aims to decrease carbon emissions and fuel poverty in the UK by increasing household energy efficiency. The ECO4 Funding Scheme began operations in April 2022 and is set to continue until March 2026.

Energy companies are obligated to reach specified objectives for lowering carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency in houses under the ECO4 plan. They accomplish this by funding energy efficiency measures for eligible households, especially those with low incomes or receiving certain benefits. This includes services such as boiler grants, air source heat pump grants, first-time central heating grants and insulation grants.

How Many People Get Insulation in the UK?

While the exact number varies, data suggests that around 60% of houses in England and Wales have “average” or above wall insulation levels. This figure varies regionally, with higher rates in the North East and lower rates in London.

Up to 300,000 households are expected to benefit from the Great British Insulation Scheme, a government initiative providing free or cheaper insulation to eligible homes.

Studies indicate that investing in insulation can save homeowners in the UK hundreds of pounds per year on energy bills, making it a worthwhile investment for both comfort and cost-effectiveness.

Heat pumps are essential for meeting the UK’s 2035 climate targets. They aim to cut carbon emissions from building heating by 50%, a sector responsible for nearly a quarter of the country’s fossil fuel demand. The government plans to install 600,000 heat pumps each year by 2028.
